Oh This is Rich! Obamacare Champion Anthony Weiner Wants Waiver for NYC
Rep. Anthony Weiner (D-NY) was one of Obamacare’s most vocal cheerleaders leading up to the dreadful law being rammed through. He even said “The bill and I are one.” If anyone should be subject to the provisions of this wretched law, it’s the people that put him in office. But no, he’s thinking his [insert insulting adjective here] constituents should be exempt. No, I’m not [insert expletive here] kidding! It’s like we’re living Animal Farm – where some animals are more equal than others.Via Doug Powers, Politico reports that Weiner’s political ambitions are stronger than his love of Obamacare. I’m shocked, shocked, I tell you!
Rep. Anthony Weiner said Wednesday he was looking into how a health law waiver might work for New York City. Why is it that the unions, the corporate bosses, the liberal politicians, and everyone else who advocated for this piece of crap legislation aren’t required to reap what they’ve sown? If you ask me, every single one of them should be stuck paying for this; while those of us with common sense, who warned against it, should be exempt. But of course, in this Brave New World of ours, it’s the other way around. But I’m sure the [insert expletive here]‘s in downstate New York will keep voting for this piece of [insert expletive here] politician because he’s “looking out for them.”
Weiner, who is likely to run for mayor of New York, said that because of the city’s special health care infrastructure, his office was looking into alternatives that might make more sense. Weiner is one of the health care law’s biggest supporters; during the debate leading up to reform, he was one of the last holdouts in Congress for the public option.
“The president said, ‘If you have better ideas that can accomplish the same thing, go for it,’” said Weiner. “I’m in the process now of trying to see if we can take [President Barack Obama] up on it in the city of New York, … and I’m taking a look at all of the money we spend in Medicaid and Medicare and maybe New York City can come up with a better plan.”
[...]
“We in New York already have hospitals, we already employ doctors and we employ nurses. We have a lot of uninsured people. … [Setting up] the exchanges is the one piece of the puzzle that would be difficult for us to do,” he said. “I’m just looking internally to whether the city can save money and have more control over its own destiny.”
Update: It gets even better! Weiner predicts the Supreme Court will strike down the mandate, leading us to nationalized health care even faster. With that in mind, did you notice he’s not asking for a waiver of killing babies or mistreating seniors after we have a single payer system? By the time that all happens it will be too late!
